What We Believe
The Bible
We believe that the Holy Bible, both Old and New Testaments, was verbally inspired by God, inerrant in the original writings, and is of supreme and final authority in faith and life. II Tim.3:16; II Pet. 1:19-21; Matt. 5:18; Ps. 119:89,105; Matt. 4:4; 24:35.
God
We believe in one God eternally existing in three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. John 15:23,24; Matt. 28:19; II Cor. 13:14; I Pet. 1:2.
Jesus
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and that he is true God and true man, and is the only and sufficient mediator between God and man. John 1:1-3, 3:16, 10:30; Heb. 1:1-3; I Tim. 2:5,6.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit and that His ministry is to reveal Christ to men in the regeneration and sanctification of their souls. John 3:3-7; 16:7-13. We believe that the "baptism of the Holy Spirit" occurs at the instant of salvation, sealing the believer in Christ and also empowering each Christian for some kind of service to God. I Cor. 12:13; Eph. 1:13; 4:30; Rom. 8; II Cor. 1:2
We believe that man was created in the image of God, and that he sinned and thereby incurred spiritual death. Gen. 1:27; 2:17; Rom. 5:12; Eph. 2:1-3.
Man
We believe in the personality of Satan, that he is the unholy god of this age, the author of all sin, and is destined to judgement in the lake of fire with all unbelievers. Matt. 4:13; 25:41, II Cor. 4:4; Rev. 20:10.
Satan
We believe in the atoning and substitutionary death of the Lord Jesus Christ for our sins, and that salvation is received only through personal faith in Him. Eph. 2:8-9; I Pet. 2:24; 3:19; John 3:16, II Cor. 5:21; Is. 53:4,5.
Salvation
We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave, His ascension into Heaven, and in His present intercession for the saints. Luke 24:6,7; Acts 1:9-11; I Cor. 15:3-6, 17-20; Eph. 1:19-21; I John 2:1, Heb. 7:26.
Christ’s Resurrection
We believe in His personal, visible, and imminent return to the earth and that He is coming to receive His own and to establish His universal reign of righteousness. Acts 1:10-11; I Thess. 4:13-17; Luke 1:32,33; Phil. 3:20; Titus 2:13.
Christ’s Return
We believe that baptism is the immersion of a believer in water, in the name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, setting forth the essential facts in redemption - the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Matt. 3:13-17; Acts 10:48; Rom.6:3-5; Matt. 28:19,20.
BAPTISM
We believe that the Lord's Supper is the commemoration of His death until he comes, and should be preceded always by solemn self-examination. Matt. 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19-20; I Cor. 11:23-32.
Lord’s Supper
We believe that a New Testament church is a body of regenerate (born again) baptized believers, associated for worship, instruction, and observance of the church ordinances, and to carry out the will of God. We believe that the Lord's Day (the first day of the week) is to be kept sacred for that purpose. We believe that there should be continual missionary interest both at home and abroad for the spread of the gospel. Acts 2:41-42; 20:7; Heb. 10:24,25; Matt. 28:18-20; Eph. 4:4-6.
We believe in the congregational form of church government and in the separation of Church and State. Acts 6:3-5; 15:22; Matt. 18:17.
We believe in the separation of church and state as intended by our founding fathers; that government not prohibit or restrict the practice of religion, and that the Christian has a responsibility to be an informed and involved citizen.
The Church
We believe in the eternal security of the believer. John 3:16; 5:24; 6:37,38; 10:28,29; Rom. 8:38,39; Phil. 1:6; I John 2:25; 5:11-13.
Assurance
We believe the Bible teaches that marriage refers to the covenant relationship between one man and one woman, as instituted by God in the beginning, to the exclusion of all others. (Genesis 1:20b-24).
Marriage
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the believers to eternity in heaven with the Savior, and the bodily resurrection of unbelievers to eternity in hell and the lake of fire. Matt. 25:34,41,46; Rev. 20:15; 21:1-4.
